25 year old male, used to be athletically fit.......

Weight loss, fatigue, muscle/joint pains, extreme anxiety and depression some days.

MOOD SWINGS. Some days if my wife or our 6 year old come home fussing at eachother, or if she is mad at me for little things, or if the child wants to act like im the badguy in the house........ohh man do I get in a bad mood. Im usually the funniest class clown type of guy around (think of comedians like George Lopez or Steve Harvey)..........but now I dont crack anymore jokes and sometimes i dont feel like talking to anyone.

My wife says im alot more grouchy lately and I try to control it, but I really cannot.

Hardest thing.........family members and people around you dont understand what you are going through and think that you can simply "change" how you react to your symptoms. Since this isnt "normal" in most people, this kinda makes me feel "alone" to deal with the issues.

Ha I would say them all 2. The worst is fatigue because I feel like I can't get through the day, but anyone who is having this problem should really try T3. With hormone replacement, most of us are only taking T4. After you start hormone replacement, most of the time the body stops producing T3, which causes the fatigue. You only need a small amount of T3 in comparison to T4. I believe it is somewhere around 3-5%.

The thing that bothers me the most is that I can't remember anything.  But since that isn't an option I have to say fatigue and mood swings.

I chose fatigue and mood swings. Fatigue is always with me. As for mood swings, I don't think I have a problem...although hubby might say different, lol. I guess I am pretty irritable, though if I really think about it. Sometimes I catch myself saying or even thinking something that shocks me, and ask myself what the heck is wrong with you? I think I have an evil twin, but that could be more menopause related than hypo.

But the symptom that was the worst for me is not listed, and that would be cold induced body aches, like the flu but worse because its like getting cold right down to the bone. I had a period of time when it was so bad it hurt to be touched. I became pretty much dysfunctional. All I wanted to do was stay under a mountain of blankets. Of course, TSH was showing normal at the time, so I got no help from doctor other than to put me through a bunch of tests for everything else under the sun. His final offer was, here, take some Prozac. You'll feel better. Fear of being in that condition again has caused me to become more pro-active because now I know doctors are...ignorant.

I  am glad to see so many choose anxiety when the doctors say it is a symptom of hyper.  My doctors says it is something else.  who figures.  I am trying to deal with the something else whatever it is so the anxiety goes away.  It is amazing to me that so many of us suffer from it and yet they say its not from the thyroid.  I take a .5 lorazapam  1/2  when I need it and sometimes that is every day at least once a day.  I sure hope it goes soon.    These are great answers to a great question.    lol   linda

I too would like to say all at some time or another, but if I have to choose Anxiety is the worst, but my GP says it can be my thyroid because Anxiety is a symptom of Hyper and I am Hypo ????

This is a great poll, it helps to see others have the same symptoms and you're not losing it! I wanted to vote for 2 of them, the anxiety and the mood swings, but finally voted for the anxiety as I too hate the fear of not feeling like myself, especially when the brain fog comes!

Yeah, I USED TO have a good body too.  I've gained about 30 lbs that I can't get rid of also.  I didn't weigh anywhere near this much when I was pregnant, so would love to even get back to that weight.

I agree with Applecore...........fear holds me back, because of the anxiety of not being myself and wondering where I went...........add in brainfog and face puffiness and loss of hair.

Oh my, so nice to say these things without being judged.

I'd say joint stiffness and burning feet.
I am slowly getting rid of the other symptoms...eliminating them one by one.
