Will i have to remain on thyroid medicin for rest of my life?

I am on interferon treat, week 20 of 24. Here are 2 months old thyroid test results as under


TSH    5.64         Normal    0.5 to 7.0
T3      2.10          Normal    1.08 to 3.14
T4      118           Normal    59-135

Today im going to doc to ask for antibodies and FT4, FT3. I want ask one thing. I have heard that after completion of interferon treatment, thyroid will come back to normal itself. If not, it will come back to normal after treatment to thyroid. But I was told by HCV forum that there are chances, thyroid will not come back to normal and I will have to remain on thyroid medicine for the rest of my life. Is it true???????/ im much worried. What is this???? I was not treating Hep c for another disease. It is very awful that I will have to remain on medicine for the rest of my life. If I had known this I would have not treat HCV with interferon

May be, so you need to do regular tests  after starting medication, but your quality of life will improve alot, so as soon as you feel better (the most important thing) you should continue medication. (Hep c is worst then a thyroid problem, and thyroid in most cases can be controled)

It's hard to determine if you will remain on thyroid support forever.

Your focus should be as estralinha states - Your quality of life.

Get your thyroid tested again andpost  your labs here. If your numbers have improved then you probably need to stay on the med. Its no big deal really when your quality of life can be so good just because of a little pill
