not really:(   i went fri. for barium swallow test and everything went good ,they said. the guy said maybe the pressure is from nodule b/c size pressing on the esophagus? also, i was looking through my copies from dr office and seen few things a was wondering about.  scant thy. follicular epithelial cells noted, and  on another paper said some minor calcifications in the nodule. do you know anything about these notations??  i hope everything is going good for you!! :) i'm at work trying to catch up just in case we do surgery in the next couple of months.  thank you!

One has to keep in mind that just bcz the test was *normal* it basically means there is No Physical Anomoly (like a hiatal hernia) & also it means it DID NOT HAPPEN TO CATCH YOU REFLUXING at the time of the test!  It doesn't mean you don't have reflux .. just means you didn't reflux then.

See, I'm hoping it "is" reflux so you can find a cure w/o surgery.

All kidding aside, my son's test was totally normal but he had obvious severe reflux .. that is when I learned he just didn't reflux at that moment.

When they do add'l tests beyond the barium swallow they do what is called a 24hr probe ... where a probe is inserted and it sees how many reflux episodes take place in a 24hr time and puts it into a #, etc.  That test proves or disproves reflux.

Then again, the nodule can be causing the pressure so some more time with the reflux meds sounds like it is in line and do continue them even if still feeling the same (although I'm not a doc .. just a thyroid nodule person like you) :)

OH!!I I REMEMBER THEIR WAS A GIRL IN THERE AND SHE SAID TO THE GUY "THERE'S A LITTLE REFLUX RIGHT THERE".  YES IT WOULD BE NICE IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY BUT THE WHY THE DR TALKED ITS BIGGER (5.2CM) AND GROWING IN DEPTH.(COLD COMPLEX) AND THE RAI I 131 PILL DIDN'T SHRINK IT. DO YOU KNOW WITH THE REFLUX  IF YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO BE CLEARING YOU THROAT?  THANK YOU FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE!!  //(*-*)\\

I'm not really 100% sure but I know with the baby and toddlers the stuff that mixes with the saliva smells like an awful sour vinegar.  The throat clearing could be from a large nodule pressing inward, too I would assume.

A 5.2cm growing inward is something you definitely need to follow closely.

I had a 1.5cm growth that was near the lining of my trachea  and I had symptoms from day 1 post op and they were all dismissed as "from the incision it is tight and it is normal" and this little bump was only the size of a tiny pea and it GREW AND GREW and grew but what nobody realized until 2 mos post op was that it was growing inward and what we saw on the outside was very little of the real thing ....

Within minutes of being stitched up for this secondary mini procedure I felt NO TIGHTNESS!!!!!  It was interfering with my trachea.  In my case it was an undiagnosed cyst that was infected and burst and my body formed a capsule of scar tissue to protect me from becoming infected and it grew and grew and yes, it did interfere with my trachea at only 1.5cm's big .. looked like a raspberry when it was removed .. it is about 1/8"above my thyroid incision .. well, maybe more like 1/4".
