For the last 14yrs have been taking it in the morning on empty stomach. I do not eat anything until an hour after taking it.

I take 50 mcg of LevoT and I take mine at 630am and wait 30 - 40 minutes before eating breakfast. My dr said to make sure its taken on an empty stomach and wait at least 30 minutes before eating. Also try and take it at the same time every day. ( Sometimes I take mine 10-15 min later depending on when I get up )

What my dr said and what the pharmacist and insert says all match.

I am taking 150 mcg of synthroid. I take it at 7:00 am and I don't eat for atleast 3 hrs, but that's just me. I do manage a cup of coffee a few hrs. after my meds, but It's hard for me because if I eat too soon, everything just runs right through me. I have tried different time frames, and this is what works for me . Sometimes I take it at 5:30 am, but I try to keep it at the same time everyday.

First thing in the AM.  Hang out at MedHelp for 1/2 hr and then eat.  Consistency is the most important so when you are tested you do the same thing every day.  But 1/2 hour is minimum with my doc saying 1 hr is preferable.  but that is too much for me to wait to chow down!

I take mine in the morning and wait 45 min to an hour to eat.  My question: is it ok to drink milk with breakfast, an hour after synthroid,  or will the calcium in that prevent further absorbtion?

I get up at 3:30 am to get ready for work, so I take my synthroid and first dose of cytomel at that time with water.  Then I shower and get ready for work.  By the time I get everything done, it's been about 45 min to an hour so I can have my coffee/tea and go ahead and eat breakfast.

According to the instructions that came with my meds, they should be taken ONLY with water and wait at least 30 min to an hour before ingesting anything else.

I take mine first thing in the morning. Because I also have insomnia, I tend to wake up at 3am and so I have a cup of water and my levothyroxine on the night stand so I take it at 3am. Or whenever I wake up. I do that mostly because I never knew how long you had to go without eating before you had an empty stomach (if I was going to take it in the evening).

I would google synthroid drug interactions and see if that will fly.  I have no idea.

Hi,

I take synthroid 112 and I take it about 6 am with my coffee or water.  I wait till 7-7:30 before I eat anything.  I have never thought of taking it at night since they want your stomach empty when you take it.  This is the only way for the synthroid to go through out your system.

Most will say they take their meds in the morning at least an hour b4 eating.  I recently switched to taking my Levothyroxine at night.  I'm glad I switched!  Waiting for that morning cup of coffee was killing me!  And I didn't have any problem at all with this switch.  I think most people wouldn't have an issue with a switch, but just have a feeling they might be a bit wired at night if they changed.  But T4 meds take days to build up in your system and I never felt "awake" after switching to nighttime.  Of course I have kept taking my Cytomel (T3) in the morning as soon as I wake up.
