Does anyone have any idea how to boost the appetite? I find it very difficult to eat anything. I am hypo and hashi's. I don't need to lose weight. I feel I need to eat for energy which I have none of. Any supplements anyone can suggest?
I'm on LevothyroxineLevothyroxine Levothyroxine sodium, and I really don't feel like eating much either. I thought it was a side effect from another medication, but your post makes me wonder. I never connected the two before.
I really don't know of any supplement - but have you tried 4 to 6 very small meals a day. They don't have to be gigantic meals but light ones. Is there any foods you just can't eat i.e. dairy- red meat - etc?
Thanks for all your responses. I can eat anything I want. No allergies. I just don't want to eat. I can hardly eat one meal a day much less 4 to 6. I don't seem to be losing much weight, anymore. I just feel that it would help with my energy level. I don't know what Megase is, but I'll look into it. Thanks again.
I take my Levo early on an empty stomach. I eat breakfast several hours later and take my other meds. At night, I take some meds (follow-up medication) and several hours later I take my vitamins on an empty stomach.
I try to spread it out to minimize the chance that something will not absorb correctly.
Speaking of appetite, I finally decided to make myself some scrambled eggs and sausage. I had already fed the children and put them in bed--I just wasn't hungry earlier.
I guess the best thing is to just make yourself eat at those times.
I actually woke up hungry the other morning and opted to skip my Synthroid for the day LOL .... don't know what that hunger was all about but I enjoyed it for the day and back to my meds as usual .. kind of a reward I guess LOL! C~
A glass of red wine before a meal will make you hungry. BUT if you are on any kind of antidepressants or anti-anxiety meds drinking is not a good idea. They give wine to older people who have no appetite.
I also have no appetite and find it very hard to eat most of the time. Nothing enjoyable about eating to me and now being on low-carb b/c of high blood sugar is not helping. Can't drink win b/c I'm on antidepressants. But I am not losing any weight at all. It is actually making me gain weight, which seems unfathomable to me, and I have zero energy. Know that I also should be eating more, but when you don't feel like it it's hard to force the food down.
