armour thyroid or T3(cytomel) T4(synthyroid) combination ??

by miamijapan, May 24, 2007 12:00AM
I have been taking Synthyroid 75mcg for 2 yrs.  My natural Doc suggested me for Armour Thyroid or adding Cytomel (T3) to Synthyroid since my T3 is low, but reference range.  Anybody has suggestion ??

personally i prefer the armour...it just takes time to get to the right dosage and you have to start slow....ck out stopthethyroidmadness.com to get some great insight into working with armour....take care

does anyone know HOW TO SWITCH from compounded T3 to Cytomel? the ratio? my isurance pays for cytomel but not compounded T3? 2 different Dr.s and they both think they are right. Cytomel is short acting compounded is long acting but much more expensive. thanks

I have low T3 and on currently taking 12.5 mcg of Cytomel daily.  I am about 25 pounds overweight from slow weight gain over past 7 years despite healthy diet and regular exercise.  I had hoped the Cytomel would pump up my metabolism and burn some fat but no luck.  Does anyone else have just low T3 but take a combination T3/T4 therapy?  I asked my doctor if she would prescribe perhaps Armour Thyroid in conjunction with the Cytomel but she said no.
