blood in urine/high sed rate

by davemax, Oct 13, 2009 10:05AM
Hello,  I am writing on behalf of someone.  A 47 year old woman with a past history of sarcoidosis of the lungs, treated for 6-9months with steriods, all cleared up.  Off prednisone for 3 years now.     Now,  had blood test, blood in urine showed up, although dr. indicated she always had a slight amount in the urine, and now sed rate is 43.   At one time is up to 60 with the sarcoid.      Has been on thyroid medicine and the routine blood work showed the blood in urine, sed rate of 43..

she is going for a CAT scan on kidneys, bladder, etc..   any thoughts? thank you.

This community is geared towards thyroid issues. We do have other communities with specific issues that may be of better help to you. You want to look into urinary....bladder....kidneys, etc. There might even be a expert forum with a dr who might have suggestion.
I think her Dr is going in the right direction in doing a CT and looking for cysts, growths, tumors, etc.
The SED rate test is a measure of inflammation in the body, pertaining to immune response. So that is something for the Dr to follow up on such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc....there a quite a few things to look at and rule out.
