Last month I underwent a RAIU test for my hyperthyroid and was then given the proper dosage of RadioactiveRadioactive iodine uptake Iodine to destroy my thyroid. I went to my doctor for the one month check up last week. What should I expect from an almost 100% iodine uptake? I was told 30% uptake is the norm.
Its possible Stella....I was Hypo 5 weeks after RAI.
Some go hypo straight away...sometimes others take up to a year.
I went for weekly bloods so that I didnt crash too hard.
My TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh was 6 point something at 5 weeks.
Prior to that, I had never seen my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh over 0.5 lol.
If your thyroid took the full 100% then I would say that you will go hypo quickly.
My doc was concerned that since my gland was ramped up to the max that it would process the radiationCystitis - noninfectious Radiation therapy and get rid of it before it could have a chance to damage my thyroid enough to kill it. Thus causing the need to redo the RAI again.
That is the possible senario one facesFace pain with a high uptake score.
