can hypothyroid really make you feel this bad?

My TSH levels were given to me on Friday and they were a 7. I have since been upped on my medication as I mentioned. Today I had an ultra sound of my thyroid and more blood drawn. i am not sleeping well, feel like i'm going to vomit and am really shaky. My question is can underactive thyroid make you feel this bad? And how long does it take for the new dosage of meds to start taking affect? Any answers would be greatly appreciated as I'm living in a nightmare right now. Thanks Tracy

At times, I have felt like I was dying. but my TSH was never as high as yours. I have only been on Synthroid for two weeks and am feeling much better. However, my doc said it could take six weeks or longer to notice any differences, so I guess I'm lucky. I'm still fatigued, but I don't feel like death is knocking on my door anymore.

Also, as stated on previous forums, hypos tend to have low D and B 12, plus overall low vitamin levels. Make sure doc checks your vitamin levels and that you are taking supplements. Low vitamins can make you feel really bad.

Get some rest. Take it easy. I have found that stressing about being hypo makes my hypo symptoms much worse.

Take care
