can i get an answer PLEASE!

by shay7586, Apr 13, 2008 12:38AM
I hope to get an answer this time, Ive posted 3 times with NO response. My question is I have had problems in the past with "low thyroid" levels and all that goes with. I was taking meds for 2 years and then stopped. I was okay for about a year when i was pregnant and after i had my son. Recently i started to feel sluggish and blood test show slightly low thyroid. (im not sure which one, my doc didnt go into that just said wait 6 wks and test again) but another doctor did blood test that showed an "elevated Sed. level" I  want to know if these to are related? I was reading about it and it listed thyroid disease as one of the reasons the sed level could be high. I want to know if you think they are related???

For what it's worth...

Sorry you never got a response but after looking it up myself I can see it’s a difficult one to address.  I’m seeing things that explain the SED test is used to help determine if an illness is present.  Is that correct?  One site listed some illnesses; thyroid disease was there.  So was Raynaud's phenomenon and that was a major symptom of my thyroid/parathyroid problems.  But I saw a lot more associating the SED test with arthritis issues.  Perhaps that forum as some answers.  You could also try asking one of the drs on this site.

Hope you get more responses.  Good luck.

Thank you for reposting ... I am sorry you didn't get a reply to your post .. it is very hard as you wait to speak with your doctor and know results and have symptoms and not understand what is going on ...

We try to get to as posts as possible, but it very difficult to do so, so please understand that many have read your post I am certain but because most do not have an answer they have not replied ... your questions are uncommon with thyroid as it relates to most of the members on this board . BUT I have an idea ..in addition to the Arhtirtis Community

Dr. Lupo has a Dr. Expert Forum for Thyroid:  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/120

Try to get onto that forum and arthritis and come on back .. we are here for you and want to help as much a we can .. on the hypo end of things take a look on the health pages on top of this page .. there are articles to take a look at!

WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY!

I agree with thypatient, your raised SED level could be due to any number of things. Check out the link below which explains the test in great detail and what other things may be causing the increase.
