can you help me try to figure out my thyroid results from a blood test?

my doctor has not returned my calls. the nurse told me that my thyroid results are "in normal range but not what the doctor wants to see" and that I may need medication. unfortunately i don't have a great insurance plan and this doctor is not highly rated for several reasons, so I wanted to see if anyone else had insight. I appreciate your help.

It would be much better if you started your own thread so that replies would not interfere with the initial poster.  Just click on the green colored Post a Question button at the top and post your info.  Please list your thyroid test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.

Hi.  I just read your comment.  My T3 free is 3.65.  I just got a bunch of my labs back too and am so anxious because I don't see the dr. again until July 22.  I have a ton of labs that I can read but don't know what they are looking for.  I posted a post today about help.  I don't know what my T3 score means.  Do you? Thanks.

That single result tell you only that you do NOT have one of the two antibodies that would indicate an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid.

There is a 2nd antibody test so that single test is not conclusive.

The test you list does NOT indicate any other condition or state of your thyroid condition.  For those results you will need to look for the following three tests.

-TSH which is a screening test at best but many Dr's believe it is the holy grail.

-Free T4 - this is the actual usable hormone that remains in storage in the blood.

-Free T3 - This is the actual usable hormone that is metabolized and used by your bodys cell. And is therefore about the most important if not THE most important test to determine your thyroid state.  But unfortunately many Dr's do not want to test it.

Thank you so much!  Do you know how this inconclusive result would be a reason for my doctor to be unhappy?  Is it a combination with other factors from my blood test? (even though the nurse said everything else looks normal)
