could swollen pituitary gland be thyroid connected?

I had a MRI done on my brain in2005 and they found lesions on my brain and that my pituitary gland was swollen! I was told by Dr. it was either MS or mini strokes! But was never really given any real answers. They gave me another MRI in 6 months and there was no changes so they blamed it on mini strokes as I am a smoker! 34 Yr. old! I just had another one done and found out today that there were changes in and more lesions this time! My pituitary gland is swollen and encroaches upon the adjacent suprasellar cistern and optic chiasm ! My sister has graves disease and I don't think they ever tested me for thyroid disease! Is there a connection I should be tested for? I also have other symptoms like very ache legs and shocking pains shooting down my legs, fatigue, no energy, numb fingers and toes! Any suggestions? I have no health insurance to have all the tests but I know somethings wrong but not sure which directions to go to require least testing! Please help!!
