cytomel stopped working after 12 yrs!

I was diagnosed w hashimotos when I was 41. I had a goiter and could barely move! I was put on 125 mg synthroid and all was well for a while. Then I went full blown hypo! After trying armour( not for me ) and other synthetic t4 drugs I tried cytomel. WOW! It was great! I have been taking 50mcg for 12 yrs or so now. But my hypo symptoms are coming back! Weight gain, hair falling out, no energy, heartburn, shortness of breath ( do to my ever expanding gut no doubt!). My dr told me my t3 was low( HUH?) so my dose was upped to 75mcg. I have a visit in 2 weeks to see my latest blood test results. My question is how can my t3 be low if that is all I take? I also take an awesome multi vit which has vitd, selenium, copper, zinc....all kinds of good stuff! What is going on?? Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Not sure about too much T3 mimicking too little.  Thyroid Manager's article Adult Hypothyroidism has a table of listed reasons for needing to adjust medication: dietary fiber or soy protein supplements, H pylori infection, atrophic gastritis, proton pump inhibitors, celiac disease, short bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance, intestinal giardiasis, various drugs, iron and calcium supplements, weight gain, estrogen. The table goes indepth on types of specific drugs. You might notice an improvement with an increase in T3.

That's what I have been reading. I have been om 75ncg of cytomel for almost 2 months. No improvement. I have never before had a food allergy( lots of drug allergies tho!) But will be cutting down on gluten now.I am still not understanding how this could work so well for 14 yrs and then no good! Should the dr up my t3 somemore? I've been reading where too much t3 can mimic too little t3.my dr isn't an endo, bu she takes the time to figure stuff out.

Explains why your Hashi's showed up at 41. Times of major hormonal shifts can be triggers for Hashi's if you have the gene.  Treating RT3 dominance is with T3 only.  Absorption wise - low stomach acid and celiacs are my first two thoughts.

Well its not menopause....went through that @ 41. My cytomel is the name brand. I tried the generic but the results were so so and I read where the lab for the generic was fined for inconsistency. I'm thinking of rt3 and a definite absorption problem. How to treat it though, thats the question. Or could another part of my endocrine system be crashing?

I have a few suggestions: menopause, worsening of hashimoto's thyroiditis, absorption problems, potency of thyroid medication.
