hi,
i hope you can answer this.. i've been taking anti-anxiety/depression meds for 14 years and the last 4 months i've had terrible problems with my medicine working. my dr. suggested i take cytomel with my medicine to see if it should help work. does anyone have any feeback i would greatly appreciate it. i'm also on 50 m. of synthroid for 2 1/2 years and when i went up to 75 it made me more anxious...
thanks i'm hanging in over here, but it's been a huge struggle and want my life back.
thanks

I took cytomel for 10 day to help with my symptoms of hypothyroidism when my TSH was at 56.  I felt great on it and my anxiety was gone.  My doctor had me stop after ten days because she said I could only us it for a short time.  I felt good for a week off it and then I went down hill fast.  Anxiety and depression have come back.  I'm now taking Lexapro with my Synthroid and I dont think it's helping.  I asked my Endo if she could put me back on Cytomel but she said I would feel good for a few months and thn not so great.

I'm going to see a new endo thought so I would not take her word for it.

I hope that helps a little

Raising the T3 in thyroid patients sometimes can help with symptoms.

HAve you been tested on all your levels? If you doctor is thinking about adding the T3 - you may want to take them up on that and see how you do.

her thyroid functions have all been within "normal" ranges.  i have researched enough to know that one persons normal is not for another person.  there is a very strong family history of thryoid (hasimoto) dysfunctin on both sides of the family.  her previous therapist who she spent alot of time with swears its a hormonal problem.  i don't want to put  her on lithium if it can be avoided but she needs something.
