Heat often causes people to sweat excessively which leads to dehydration.
Hyperthyroids should not work out with vigorous exercises until levels are normal. Are your's normal? Hyperthyroids are heat intolerance anyway. Even if your levels are normal you are still hyperthyroid and still prone to heat intolerance.
As well as the sports drinks, you might try eating food that contain water.
If this is bad enough to be scary to you, this probably should be discussed with your doctor, if you haven't already.
Thank you for the response. I got Powerade. I will try this out and hope it works. I have to begin to workout becuse I am getting out of shape.
I do not have dirrhea. Its just that when the conditions are humid my body begins to emit out a lot of heat and sweat breaks and I begin to feel lightheaded. I feel a little better when I take a cold bottle and touch it to my body and sit down. When this happens I am very very scared. I keep on telling my self that there is nothing to worry but the past eposides somhow bring fright in me. I just want to be normal..
Hyperthyroidism can cause severe diarrhea which leads to dehydration, in turn leads to dizziness, weakness and fatigue. Also, dehydration can cause an imbalance of sodium, potassium, and chloride (electrolytes) in the body, and diminishes the volume of your blood. Drinking sports drinks like Gatorade helps replenishes electrolytes, more so than plain water, I believe.
If diarrhea is a problem for you, call your doctor. He might recommend the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast) for 24 to 48 hours. Call your doctor if the diarrhea is still a problem after 48 hours.
