do i need a change in meds

by Lara10560, Jul 13, 2008 11:47AM
I was diagnosed with Graves in October of 2007.  I went on 15 mg of methimazole, 50 mg of metroprolol and 30 mg of celexa.  I also take Calcium Magnesium and Vitamin D daily.  Since December, I have felt great.  The doctor recently took me off of the beta blocker.  I went to Utah for a high stress tournament with little sleep for 8 days, quit the beta blocker and I picked up a cold all at the same time.  Since I have come back,  the anxiety symptoms I previously experienced have returned.  I wake up with nausea and loose bowels.  I take my meds in the morning.  By late afternoon or early evening, I begin to feel better.  I am 47 years old and quite possibly perimenopausal.

Stress can affect your body and medication in my experience. When I travel epecially I notice an uptick in my hyperactivity but most days I am relatively stable.  I would try to take it easy and get back to your routine, but call your doctor if you get super agitated. I have some beta blockers left over from my more severe days and take as needed every so often if my heart rate goes above 90, but it's rare.   (ps I am a graves/methim person too)
