does levoxyl cause nausia?

I was diagnosed w/ hyperthiriod & graves disease in 2011, had r.a.i. on Feb 1 2012and went hypo about 3 weeks ago. My endo started me on 50 mcg Levoxyl. Receantly I have been experiencing severe stomach upset and vomiting. Sorry for the ewww factor but it seems that even if I eat only in the morning, I still have food in my stomach at night which enevaitably comes back up.

Although my appetite is nil and food doesn't stay down, I dont lose any wieght. Plz dont get me wrong, I do NOT binge and purge nor am I annorexic, just SICK.  I was 135 lb and 5'8" at my hyper state and now 175lb and hypo. Of course I would love to lose the wieght, none of my clothes fit, but I can't stand being so sick and NOT losing wieght anyway. Go figure : (

I was working out and eating very healthy until I injured my knee 2 weeks ago. I was feeling better then but even watching my diet and 4 - 6 miles a day on treadmill / elliptical was not taking off any wieght.

Can someone PLEASE HELP?  I don't see my endo again until June.

Thank you Goolarra. I was begining to lose hope here.  I tried taking the levoxyl @ night, no sooner than 4 hrs after eating and now I take it @ 4:30 a.m., about 1 and 1/2 hour before I have to get up.  I cant even drink coffee anymore. For days I lived off of graham crackers and gingerale but seem to be getting a bit better today.  Maybe I just need to adjust.  I actually ate cereal today! Woo Hoo!

You may be sensitive to one of the fillers in Levoxyl.  You might ask your doctor to switch you to Synthroid or one of the the levothyroxines.  The different manufacturers all use different fillers.

When do you take your Levoxyl?  It should be taken on an empty stomach (no food or drink for 3-4 hours prior), with a full glass of water and no more food or drink for 0.5-1.0 hours after.  Many people take it first thing in the morning to insure an empty stomach.

You will have an extremely difficult (to impossible) time losing weight while you remain hypo.  Once your hormones are adjusted properly, you'll find it easier.
