dosage

iwa
I'm currently 13 week's pregnant and taking 100mcg thyroxine during the week and 75mcg at weekend.  I feel this is not enough as experiencing problems i would normal experience if I do not take enough.  I therefore required a blood test and it came back with my TSH at 8.83,  The doctor has now increase my weekend dosage to 100mcg but I still feel this is not enough.  I feel 125mcag along with 100mcg every other day would be more suitable for me.  Please advise as I'm concern about about my baby.  Many thanks

I think probably the increase is not enough given your symptoms and high TSH.

You could get a second opinion or you could increase your meds yourself anyway.  Test again in 4 weeks regardless.

I found when I was pregnant that I needed to increase my dose by 25 mcg /day every 4 weeks for about 5 months.  I ended up taking an extra 125 mcg /day over my prepregnancy dose by the end of the pregnancy.

They say better to be slightly hyper than hypo while pregnant.

Personally I would increase to 125 mcg/day every day, with testing in 4 weeks to guide further adjustment.  BUT I am not you and that's just my opinion and I am not a doctor, please do also work with your doctor telling him you are having lots of symptoms and would like to increase your meds further.
