My levels are stabilizing, but I insisted that I be upped a bit on my synthroid (175 mcg now). My Dr. argued with me for 5 mins, saying my lack of weight loss is "stress" and that I "haven't given yourself time to completely stabilize on the meds". I'm not stressed, or I admitted that I don't ~feel~ stressed..but he is correct that I haven't given things enough time (TT was this past Dec, 3)..and I guess keeping a food journal with calories, having a food scale, and heart rate monitor w/ calories burned is a bit stressful. =)) He (dr), did agree that in 6 wks if I am not starting to loose weight that he would give me a small dose of Cytomel (cutting the synthroid back by 25mcg of course). He ~swears~ that my weight loss issue is not thyroid related, and the weird thing is ~before~ my TT my thyroid levels were "normal"..but I felt awful. I am a bit frustrated that he hasn't done a FT3 test, I asked and he said he would..but I guess he forgot to check the box for it...next labs ~will~ have FT3 b/c ~I~ checked the dang box, lol! Hell I'm paying for it..so :P.
I also told Dr. that my sister has the same symptoms..and she ~FINALLY~ got the referral to him and will see him this Wednesday! WOOT! So, he wrote her name in my chart..which is ~awesome~ b/c we try and go to the same Drs. b/c of our family's similar symptoms (maybe one of these Dr's will be a Sherlock Holmes)
Oh, and my Endo ~claims~ that I'm not "that over weight"...UMM?!?! I'm 5'5 and 177 (haven't lost nor gained in the past month w/ exercise and diet journal)...I don't know if he's just being sweet..or doesn't want me to stress out more (like that'd help)..but he just claims that I'm "over stressed, not depressed which is effecting my weight loss"..and suggested I might want to take Paxil..which I told him to hold off on that one.
Hi,
How did you make out at your Dr?
