exercising while hypo

Has anyone tried to keep up any type of exercise program while hypo, preparing for RAI? I'm 9 days post TT, and now that my calcium is back in the "normal" range, I'm starting to feel a bit better. I exercised (running, swimming, weights) until 2 days prior to my TT, and I worked on my ambulance until 2 days prior to my TT. I'm not used to sitting still, and I'm wondering if there is any danger to working out while hypo? ( My 10 year old daughter just asked me when we were going to start running again, too!)

Thanks, everyone! I went jogging today (10 days post TT), and feel pretty good. I start LID on Monday, and I imagine it will be harder then, since I won't be able to replace electrolytes as easily as just drinking some Gatorade!! I have to be very careful with my electrolytes, since I have Addison's disease, too. Hopefully my doctor will have some advice other than to take it easy!

I had a partial Thyroidecemy last week and have been told I can go back to exercising in a few more days - as directed by my doctor.  I exercised the day before surgery and can't wait to get back into the gym.

My doctor said I can at least walk and do light cardio at this point. . .  Everything I've read has indicated that exercise can only help.  I like what "kitcurious" said. . .  "I felt crappy if I sat around too. ". . .

I always tell myself, I never regret going to the gym but always regret not going. . .

As long as your doctor says it's ok, I'd keep exercising as much as you can.  Being as healthy as possible will only help your body in the long run in my opinion. . .

You had surgery so you should clear your intensity level with your doctor too until you are 100% healed.

I am hypothyroid and I exercise just about everyday. Higher intensity one day for an hour or so, lower the next, say just a half hour, but do something regularly.  Have been on thyroid replacement hormone for about 5 weeks now and am starting to feel better but I worked out when I didn't feel good too. After all, it doesn't make any difference LOL I felt crappy if I sat around too. I'm not comfortable not exercising because it's a part fo my life. I know how you feel

Yes, redheads can be very stubborn and independent. I hate that I have to ask people for help, but sometimes you just have to do it. I would definitely listen to your body- and doctors.....

Hi
i worked out fine when i was hypo before my RAI.I just took it a little easier.
Also, not trying to be preachy but gatorade has high fructose corn syrup as an ingredient which is very bad for you.Clean water and lots of it is best
wishing you good health!

Are you on any meds?  Felt fine 2 weeks after tt, but started to fade shortly after that.  I recently had RAI and I started on 75mcg of synthroid and I have absolutely no energy and severe muscle weakness and pain.  I was active before and hate sitting still, but physically I can barely hold my arms up to wash my hair.  I guess it depends on how you feel.

Also, does anyone know if Gatorade is OK while on  LID? I'm guessing it isn't, but nothing in the ingredients looks forbidden.
