extreme high in antithyroglobulin (reading 6400) help!!!

by bblee, Jan 01, 2009 09:07AM
hi, my mother, age 76, had history of hyperthyroidism, she had stopped medication over the past 2 years. 3 weeks ago she did a blood test and realized her thyroid problem is back. Her blood test show free T4 at 99.3, THS  0.01 and antithyroglobulin at 6400 (very high i was told), apparently the doctor did not ask to do a blood test on antithyroglobulin during her first blood test, on the second blood test, we realized her antithyroglobulin was high 6400!!! couple of days ago she is suffering from sore throat, on her left side around the thyroid gland area.

is this serious??? could carbimazole has any side effect that cause sore throat? if there is sore throat causes by the thyroid, is it serious?

thanks for your help.
