I had this done a couple of times. The doctor puts a very thin long instrument in your nose and feeds it up and is able to see the vocal cords. Do you have any hoarseness now?

yeah when i went in for my surgery consult, they ran a tube up my nose, down my throat to make sure that my thyroid or the nodule wasn't pushing up against my vocal cords (or something like that!).  it wasn't the most pleasant thing, but not painful at all (u just feel like u have to sneeze really bad lol).
