I have never read where GD causes diabetes of any type and GD treatment would not make the diabetes go away, likewise would treatment for diabetes make GD go away.

Diabetes - juvenile (Type I) insulin-dependent, is autoimmune.  One autoimmune begets another autoimmune.  In other words, once we have one autoimmune condition we are more prone than the normal population to get another autoimmune condition. However, one does not cancel out the other nor their treatment.
