half concious state

by princess1234, Nov 03, 2009 02:25PM

Hi All ,

For the past one month i am experiencing half conscious mental state.I will explain in detail below

I am having hypothyroid for the past 7 yrs and on levoxyl 137 mcg.In june and july 2009 i took birth control pills for my ovarian cysts. As i was taking the pills i had severe hot flushes, inability sleep and palpitations. My TSH was 0.2 and my T3 and T4 levels were also high.So my gynec asked to i reduce the dosage to 125 mcg in aug and the same symptoms continued after a month also.So i reduced my dosage to 100 mcg in September. On Sept 20 -th i followed a slow carb diet which i took only for 10 days.I didnt have any symptoms of getting my periods. So i just wanted to see if i get my periods when i stop the thyroid tablets. When i stopped i got my periods on the same day i stopped.I thought i was getting into hyper because of high dosage and so didnt take the tablets for 5 days until my periods stopped. From the next day on wards i started the tablets again but had dizziness in the mornings when i wen to gym around 6 am. after having the tablets only i used to go to the gym.So i came back from the gym unable to exercise for one week. The next week i had severe lightheadedness. When i get up from sitting position or sleeping position, i feel like falling.this went on for another two weeks. So i was mostly confined to home alone.then the symptoms worsened i could stand and walk but when i have my tablets around 8.00 am and have coffee around 8.30 and breakfast around 9.00.By 10. am i will feel very uneasy and will want to lie down.Even if i lie down in sofa with head little up no good.I will feel so uneasy that i have to lie down in bed with head flat

The main problem is here.As soon as i lie down i go down into a half conscious state.I hear sounds and feel as if someone is inside the house and i am trying to get up.There will be a constant struggle for getting up for one hour.I will shout but my voice dosent come out.I try to grab the phone and call my husband but cannot lift the phone which is in my hand.It is as if i am shouting and no voice is coming out and after great struggle i come out of that state. Its very scary.I feel like my brain is in half consious state. But i recover after this one hour and feel fine afterwards.Since i didnt have proper insurance i didnt go for blood work.Just to see if the medications caused these problems i stopped taking the tablets for 5 days.I didnt get this half consious state and was fine but after three days i started getting hypo symptoms. After 5 days of stopping the tablets i took blood test which showed tsh 20.0 and t3 and t4 within the lower range shoiwng hypo.So i have my resumed my initial starting dosage of 137 mcg which i used to have before taking the birh control pills.I was fine for two days after taking the tablets and today again i had the same half concious state.

Can anyone help me .... Its very frigtening as i get this when i am alone at home and i get it around 10.30 to 12.00 am ...approx after 2.5 hrs of taking my medication...

Thanks

Princess

it sounds like you need to have your levels checked again and then stay on a steady dosage of medication and be re-tested to see if that dosage is good for you.

when you have these episodes QUOTE:By 10. am i will feel very uneasy and will want to lie down.Even if i lie down in sofa with head little up no good.I will feel so uneasy that i have to lie down in bed with head flat

Do you ever try and stay up and force yourself to do something else? Like go outside and do some kind of activity? like go for a walk? keep busy?

How soon after you started taking the levoxyl again did you start having this?

Brain fog and bad sleep are common with an unbalanced thyroid. You may  need tests looked at further to see if you are still not optimal on your meds.

"After 5 days of stopping the tablets i took blood test which showed tsh 20.0 and t3 and t4 within the lower range shoiwng hypo"

Those are horrible labs and most likely you ae NOT getting the Free testing on the T3 and T4 lab to really help you
