hashimoto's + hives

by ronironi, Mar 19, 2009 09:27PM
Hi I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 14 years ago. I take synthroid for it. I had cancer, so I am on suppressive therapy. I had heard there was a condition that went along with Hashimoto's where people get hives easily. I thought I was allergic to peanuts, but allergy testing showed nothing significant. I have lots of sinus problems, depression, anxiety. I get hives for no reason I can figure. One allergist suggested they were stress related. He told me to take an antihistimine daily - Zyrtec - but it makes me really sleepy. I also take Effexor, and Clonazapam. I also seem to catch every bug that travels through my classroom. Is there a related condition to Hashimoto's?

Autoimmune Hashimoto is that..... autoimmune. I read somewhere that having any autoimmune will likely cause a few more conditions effecting other  autoimmune levels.

They run in packs of three.-- usually. As for the hives, the list is endless for possible causes. Meds, fillers in the meds - the antibodies attacking - immune system reponses - enviroment changes just to name a tiny few can rash us out.

You must be in a school setting as I am - That is a breeding ground for germs as you know :)  Finding the cause of "why" is very tough.

Hives is associated more with the immune system and a weaking somewhere in it. When your down - they are like an alarm system telling you to "look at me, I don't feel good!!"  It;s your sign something is upset in your system.

I found getting my immune system topnotch kept me free of rashes and hives. I take supplements and minerals to increase/ strengthen my immune system - working in this enviroment to keep me well all year lone. I started this supplement package this year and was down only one day with a cold and missed work. ( Last year I was sick on and off the whole winter months and burned up all my sick days! )

I also have no more rash/hives appearing and things are much better for me.

You expressed cancer....... was it thyroid cancer?
