thank youboth for for answering ..i really appreciate that..i took my bloodwork last week so..ill be finding out next week..thanks again..god bless..
I have vit D value 37. According to the reference of my lab t should be over 40. My latest Endo said that it should be at least 80 (good for bones). I have had ostepenia, but I also have hypercalcemia, which does not fit to low vit D value. I may have hyperparathyroidism (see parathyroid.com).
So, if you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, then vit D should be at least 80.
I found this info on the internet. "There are differences among Vitamin D methods, making a universal reference range difficult to establish. Total 25-hydroxyvitamin D (D2 + D3) is the correct measure of Vitamin D status. There is currently no consensus on the level which indicates deficiency."
I do know that for myself, the most recent test result was 45, with the desired level indicated as being >30. If you have a test result for yourself, the best way is to look at the lab report and see what reference range is shown.
just in general..can you please tellme what is considered normal vitamin d and what is low vitamin d ranges thanks so much...
I also was diagnosed with thyroid problems and low vitamin D. I was having spells with rapid heartbeat and pounding and also palpitations. Went to the cardiac specialist and had all the test on my heart and everything was fine. It was all due to the thyroid and low D. Once my synthroid kicked in and vitamin D level came up (took about 2 - 3 months) everything has been fine. Hopefully yours will improve also.
As a start, please post your thyroid and Vitamin D test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
