Im still wrapping my head around all the technical terms of things so at the start I was hyper not hypo but now I think I may be going hypo :/
I was very hyperthyroid when I first got ill thats why I was on ptu and endural , when I go to drs this arvo I will get my tsh t4 t3 levels and post them thankyou so much for helping me :)
Whoa... let's back up.. High TSH indicates hypothyroidism and would warrant a thyroid replacement med, such as Synthroid or generic levo, Armour, etc...
PTU is an anti-thyroid drug that slows down thyroid hormone production. That would indicate that your TSH might have been low and actual thyroid hormones were high.
It would seem that you had hyper phases of Hashimoto's and are now hypo?
Please post whatever thyroid labs you have so we can figure out what's going on...
High TSH is hypo; low TSH is hyper. PTU inhibits thyroid hormone production; Synthroid replaces thyroid hormones.
We need to figure out exactly where you are.
In sept 2013 , 6 months after having my son I started getting really sick heart palps, anxious , numbness , dizziness , weight loss , after being admitted to hospital 3 times they figured out I had hashimotos , the dr said my tsh was 2 and a half times the amount of what it should be so I got put on 5 ptu tabs a day and 8 endural tablets a day , then my tsh went to normal range but now my bloods are saying my thyroid antibodies are really high and they wont put me on anything yet like syntherol , now I feel like my left arm is completly numb all day every day , I cant think strait , I have put on weight , my face and left side of my body always feels numb , I get pain in my left breast , and both my hands always get spikes of andrenilan ( the only way I can describe it ) I have a drs app this arvo but this is really scaring me :( :(
Are you taking a thyroid replacement hormone? If so, which one, what dose and for how long have you been taking it?
What are your actual thyroid hormone levels? You should be getting tested periodically for Free T3, Free T4 and TSH. Be sure to include reference ranges with any labs, as ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.
The most common symptoms of hypothyroidism are weight gain, constipation, dry skin, hair loss, muscle/joint aches/pains, brain fog.
Why don't you tell us what symptoms you're having and we can let you know whether they are "normal" with hypothyroidism. There are a lot of different symptoms, because we're all affected differently. No need to be scared.
