help with weight gain

by momontheedge, Mar 31, 2009 10:43AM
5 years ago I had my thyroid killed off and am currently taking synthroid, I have gained more that 60 lbs during this time. I eat right, walk at least 5 days a week and am still gaining. My tests are always showing either a need to increase or decrease the amount of medicine needed to level me off. I am tired of not being myself and am afraid that if this cycle continues I will be 600 lbs by the time I die. What am I to do??? Everytime I bring this up to my doctor he tells me not to worry. I am even on Blood Pressure meds ( which I'm sure stems from the unhealthy weight). HELP!!!

This discussion is related to 30 weight gain on 1,000 calorie diet after starting on synthroid.

Please post actual numbers and reference ranges from your thyroid tests.  Also, what medication and amount are you taking?
