help???

my new doctor recently took blood samples to chart my levels and record them and found out my iron and vitamin b12 and d and other minerals were off  while my calcium levels were normal he redid the tests to make sure and sent my case to a university hospital who deals with endokrologists and they did not accept the case and told me to take vit d instead and check to see if there is a difference in 3 mts. somehow i know my doctor is right about parathyroid i have had really bad pain in my bones especially my ribs since i was 11 i started gaining weight then too and have always been big with my bmi ranging from 27-47 now its 34 i am insulin resistant and have pcos and suffer from depression. as far as my bones i have been told everything from arthritis to muscle aches and i know thats not it. please help with how i can find out how to get my parathyroids checked out.
Any response will be greatly appreciated

Hi and thanks for answering my iron levels are off and chlorine if thats the right word in english is off too he basically said that the mineral levels were not right. all i was told was to take vit d at the same time i have pain medication for my bones its my ribs aand hands that hurt most. i just found out that we have parathyroids so all i have done is the blood work but i'm going to ask him to take pth tests and hope it will either confirm or totally exclude a problem with the parathyroid.

What was your calcium level?  I have had low B12 & Vit D as well. What else was off the charts? You may just need B12 & Vit D. Did he put you on anything for B12? I was given a B12 shot, and was told to take 1000mcg every day , plus was also put on a 12 week regime of 50,000,00u Vit D.

I have a calcium level of 10.0 (lab range 8.6-10.2), but since it is within lab range, it is not even mentioned...they still can not give me a reason for the leg/bone pain. I pretty much just deal with it. I think I may have something going on with my parathyroid, but they don't. I did have a thyroidectomy as well about 15yrs ago.
