My question is why would my T4T4 test be high if my TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh is within normal? I have been on 75mcg synthroid for 5 weeks and will not be getting another test for 3 more weeks. I still feel I have no strength and shaky. All other tests are in the middle range of the norm.
Is this a total or free t4? It looks like total. Free t4 is a better test.
If it is a total, estrogen can increase it. That would be estrogen from birth control or any other supplemental estrogen.
The TSH would do well to come down a bit. It may continue to come down by the next blood test.
Ask for a free t4for the next time.
T3 uptake is also an outdated test.
Just my PCP. It is T4 Thyroxine. What is the difference in T4 and free T4? I am not on any estrogen or other hormone replacement. Thanks for your help.
The free t4 is the actual amount of thyroxine circulating in your blood.
The t4 total is the free t4 and the amount bound to a protein and doesn't reflect the actual amount available for your body to use.
Here is a link to Thyroid Manager with a chart for reasons why total t4 may be elevated:

Is this an endo ordering these?
