high calcium in blood cells

hi i have had some private tests done and it has come back that i have verry high calcium in my blood cells and was wondering what this could mean?! the doctor told me that it was becouse of low magneseum levels but a friend doctor seems to think he may be going down the wrong root, and may be a diffrent matter. i have been treated for graves disease and have taken the radiocative iodine could this have anything to do with it? would be great if anyone could help
thanks

Hi:

I have Graves Disease and several eye ops to correct the problem.  I also took a Radioactive pill in October 2008 to bring my levels down but it didn't work so I'm back
on PTU pills as of January.

For my last operation in February, my bloodwork came back with high calcium levels; my tsh levels are low.  My endo took more bloodwork today to run numerous tests to pinpoint what could be going on.

I'm scared .... trying not to worry my family .....

looking for info.

yes thats right i no mad isnt it. He wants to make it better by giving me magnesium cos apparently that sould even things out but i dont want him to do this as from my point of view he will just be masking the problem not solving it. im off for blood test now so hopefull someting good will come of this

Am I interpreting this correctly?  Your number is over 100% higher than the higher end of normal?  I'm no good at math but please get to a dr.  I'm surprised the other dr didn't pursue this.

If the calcium level in your blood is, as you say, very high you must see a dr.  It can indicate a true problem now and, as ChitChatNine says, can lead to future probems.

If you have an endocrinologists, due to the graves disease, I would see that dr.

I don't know where you got your current labs done but the endo will probably order a series of blood tests.  The calcium numbers need to be tracked for a bit to determine what's going on.

Good luck.

I am not too well versed but high calcium is an issue of the parathyroids sometimes.  Maybe you should see an endocrinologist for a full workup and also ask for a 24hr urine study.  High calcium can lead to calcium oxalate kidney stones, too, which is not a good thing to have.  I know.  I have them.  Normal calcium levels, though.
