hyperthyroid & RAI

Was on methimazole for 3 years. went off and tried to see alternatives. now my hyperthyroid is back and out of control. back on methimazole and beta blockers for 3 weeks.. still out of control. my dr now wants me to stop methimazole take only beta blockers so i can do the RAI. This is terrible and unbearable already. Is it normal to do the RAI before my hyper symptoms are level?

I am dealing with hyperthroidism (toxic nodules) and my endo recommended surgery or RAI.  Didnt like those options so I am currently working with a nutritionist.  This is the beginning of the 4th week of my diet change.  At this point I am feeling much better and my symptoms are definitely decreasing!

What is oil pulling? Yes. They tested and said I am post-menopausal which is making matters worse. I had they same symptoms 3 years ago and was able to get them under control with the methamazole & beta blockers. I have read pros and cons of the rai. Too much probably because it is freaking me out. However, i'm not improving this time with the other medicine.

There are alternatives, please research some more before RAI, which is devastating for the rest of your life. Try oil pulling, works great for hyper. Also, if u r a woman, check your estrogen & progesterone levels which might be affecting your thyroid. Homeopathic remedies have worked for me for the past year with hyper. Feeling much better, gained weight and all symptoms gone. Take health into your own hands before destroying such an important gland. Best of luck!
