hypothyroid and conceiving

by lavenderdeb, Nov 29, 2008 08:25AM
Hi guys in this thyroid problem community.
I want to ask you a simple question.
I have hypothyriodism and wanted to know how long will it take for me to conceive.
I am 38 years old I know I do not ovulate every month because of my age and having this thyroid problem doesn't help, but I wanted to know how long would it take for me to become pregnant if my hubby and myself keep trying every month.
I miscarried at christmas last year I was two months pregnant and I think I was pregnant last month as I was four days late and I have never been late in my life.
My thyroid levels are normal been normal for two months this is my third month of being normal now.
My doctor says it could take up to six months.

any advice please.
thanks.

I actually do not know what my TSH levels are to be honest need to see my doctor about that due to see her some time in January 2009.
I know that I am still trying myself but I would like to know what the ideal levels are myself.
Wish you good luck and lots of baby dust.
If you can find the right levels yourself please let me know.

I am also a member of this forum called American Pregnancy association... and there are some ppl who have thyroid problems too and a poster told me this
"I'm so glad you talked to him.. and yes thyroid problems can and will cause M/c's! So it's best to have it in complete control and once pregnant they will need to test you monthly and adjust your meds as needed.
Yes, Your TSH is best to be kept between 1.0-2.0 when ttc. As long as it's under 3.0 and above .30 you will be fine.. but you don't want it to drop low or go high.
Now since I'm pregnant mine has been running a little over 2.0 .. while TTC once under control I was around 1.6. So just make sure they keep a regular eye on it. "

Hope this helps.. So for how long have u been trying to get pregnant.. My hubby and I are wait until my thyroid levels are normal...as of Oct 28 2008

My Tsh was 0.02 Ref range is [0.27 - 4.20],
TBI 0.9   [0.2 - 1.9],
T4 11.2 [5.0 - 12.0] and
FT4I 12.4  [4.4- 11.4]

any idea what is FT4I

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Karen
