hypothyroid complications

my mother aged 55 years is suffering from hypo thyroidism from last 5 years, she has been taking the prescribed medicines which include thyroxine, calcium suppl and bloop pressure tablet. Along with she is taking iron supplements from last 6 months due to low hb (7). she quiet oftenly has this attack of severe migraine accompanied by vommitting and low bp, which lasts almost 12-15 hrs but from last 3 wks she has this attack twice along with red coloured rashes on her face which appear and disappear before this attack. i m consulting dr dash, springoaks hospital, mohali, india.

It sounds like your mother needs to see her Doctor right away.  I can add this though, as my Endocrinologist told me to not take my medication with an iron suppliment or any other vitamin that contains iron.  He said that iron stops your body from absorbing the thyroid hormone.

So ask your mother to not take her thyroid meds with anything else, she should wait a couple of hours before taking her iron.
