Why is your doctor moving your dose up and down?
B Vitamins, specifically, Vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause the symptoms you describe, as can being hypo, which is one reason I asked about your labs... I'll need to see them before I can comment much further.
You're in the U.S. - your doctor is required, by law, to provide you copy of your labs upon request... insist that s/he do so.
Almost sounds like your TSH might be fluctuating and your doctor is reacting to that, rather than your actual hormone levels... I'll wait to comment further until I see your labs.
I take levothyroxin 112mcg my doctor has moved my dose around. Usually if I am low I suffer muscle pain in my legs, and joint pain but this last year other symptoms have came on slowly like flu symptoms numbness feel cold tired. But I started taking b vitamins after nothing else helped and the sick feeling left so I hope this continues. As my doctor is of little help and I work long hours most the time, which does not help the run down feeling . As for the lab results my doctor has not got around to getting me a copy yet. I am still learning about hypo thyroid I have taken levothyroxin for about seven years but the medicine worked well enough until the doctor started moving my dose up and down .
I don't understand what you mean that you have hypothyroid "once every four months or so". Do you take thyroid replacement medication? How long do these episodes last? What happens in between them?
Do you have lab results you can post so we can see what your levels are when you have these episodes? Please include reference ranges, as those vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.
Do you have any other symptoms of hypothyroidism, such as weight gain, constipation, cold intolerance, muscle/joint aches/pains, puffiness/edema, etc?
