hi i went to see a consultant about having a underactive thyroid ive had it for 20 months but because of a mistake at the doctors i only found out when i was 6 weeks pregnant so only ben on tablets for about 5 months. my consultant and other people at the hospital was very rude to me about my weight i was on various diets exercises and tablets from doctors to help with my weightloss but nothing seem to work so wasnt like i wasnt doing anything to lose it. i was just wondering if you can lose weight while having it.
Right now - it sounds like you are pregnant and need to concentrate on that with you rmeds than worry right now about weight - and what people are saying.
Remember the old saying.... "sticks and stones will break my bones - but names ( or rudeness) will never hurt me."
Let me explain why I don't lose weight. I am only just beginning my treatment with Levo. Once I get my FT3/4 up, then I know I can lose weight. The trick is to find a doctor who will treat your hypo symptoms along with your FT3/4 labs and to treat TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh as secondary. Too many docs treat TSHPituitary and tsh Tsh and ignore the other labs/symptoms and the patient is still hypo and can't lose weight.
Also, some patients do better without soy or gluten products.
I agree with Stella - you need to concentrate on the baby right now, now losing weight. If you stick with a good healthy diet that's going to be good for the growth of the baby, you should be fine.
I, too, could not lose even an ounce until my thyroid levels got to the right point - for me. I can do it now -- I just have to get busy and work at it.
You would be better to post your blood results here and we can give you more feedback.

Think of the baby right now - not those idiots.
