im back!

Surgery #2 was done! They got all the thyroid cancer out--at least we hope! I am getting my radiation treatment in a few weeks but before that they will do a scan to make sure there are no more cancer cells anywhere in my body.

I slept all of yesterday and tody (as much as I could with a roomate who flapped her gums all night, just like last time). The nurses ROCKED! One of them (again) was my old RA from freshman year of college at U of TX (how awesome huh?) and the other was  SPC who I could just kiss her feet at how great she was!

This recovery sucked bad compared to last time, last time was a breeze. This time I woke up in ICU (for the 30 min watching period) with a sky rocketing fever, and blood pressure, massive pain, panic attack and couldnt breath.  I ended up passing back out and later woke up in my room better but still pretty bad.

Anyhow, I"m home now, my calcium levels were up and down but leveled out once I ate today so Im in the comfort of my own bed and know that my roommate at home (nate) i can tell to shut up if he's talking! :)

Getting dizzy so im gonna go lay down, thanks for the prayers!!

Glad to see we both made it home! Though sounds like you had a much rougher time than I.  Hope you get lots of rest and feeling much better quickly. I know I am SO happy to be home in my own bed and no more getting woken up all nite long !!  Guess we will both be getting ready for the RAI as well !!

I'm so glad you are home and made it through that scary recovery okay!  Wow, I wonder if it was a thyroid story (sometimes that happens during thyroid surgery).  Glad you are okay.

So glad you are home .. how scary in recovery to have a fever like that? Wow ....

I had a mini panic attack during the first night .. it was from the anestesthia (?sp) wearing off they said ... very scary feeling and I got dizzy and cont'd to get dizzy for a few days afterwards.

I wonder if they had to give you more meds since it was so close to the other surgery timewise?

I am really glad this is over for you!!!!  Cheryl
