indication of thyroid lab results

I've been symptomatic of hypothyroidism for awhile.  Recentlly, my lab results came in with the TSH ultra resulting in 2.36 uiu/ml and the free t4 resulting in 0.74 ng/dl.  I've researched that the low free T4 level can indicate hypothyroidism even though the TSH falls in normal range.  My doc indicates that everythingn is fine. . .I'm not convinced.  What's your interpretation?

You should repeat the tests in 4 weeks to see if your TSH increase, also you should check for thyroid antibodies (TPO and anti-Tg).

I was 2.3 normal but ended up on Synthroid after surgery for a nodule they found and all my hypo symptoms went away at TSH of 1.8 or below.  I was subclinical but nobody would recognize it .. they usually won't medicate within "normal" ranges which is a shame.
