insomnia

i was tested for tsh and found it was 4.5.and i was given thyronorm drug to bringdown the tsh level.My doubt is whether diagnosis is proerly done as i was told that my insomnia was attributed to thyroid disorder.

I agree with the other posters; also say that TSH should NOT be used as the only basis for diagnosing and/or prescribing med.  FT3 and FT4 are much more important...

Insomnia is a symptom of both hypo/hyper. 15yrs later, I still have insomnia...

It most certainly is.
Your Doc was right to prescribe a thyroid medication but shouldve also tested Ft3 and FT4 too as these other levels give a true correct picture of just what is going on with your thyroid.
