is there some kinda of trick to getting a reply on this site?

I have been having a strange feeling in my ear. Not pain just feels full. I have had this feeling on and off for over a year.  I was once diagnosed as having vertigo (no testing was done) she said I had no fluid on the ear drum, so it must be the inner ear (vertigo).  But now I woke up yesterday with the feeling again and the feeling like somthing is stuck in my throat (left side again).  I honestly thought that maybe is was just allergies until reading this forum.  Now I am concerned about my thyroid.  I made an appt for tmrw morning.

I also have GERD, but have not had any problems.  I get a biopsy done every year for that and actually had good news from my last scope.  So I really don;t think it has to do with my GERD.

If it is my thyroid, what are some of the side effects of having it removed or medication that is given for this condition.

Is it normal to have ear discomfort (pressure left side) and difficulty swallowing?  I am also starting to feel like I am strianing to get air past the spot I feel in my throat.

Im in the dark and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks
Lori

I agree bec - start a new thread on here for yourself. I see you may be worried on some things but in a nut shell what you are asking is so rare in thyroid cancer.

Hi,

You may want to repost on a new thread .. this one is really old and you may not get as much support.

We cannot diagnose, so definitely speak with your doctor, but I find since my thyroid surgery I can really feel tight in my neck on that side oftentimes when that never happened before.

I too have the pressure in both ears.  I notice it is more severe when my thyroid is inflammed due to my Hashimotos.  I also have GERD and allergies so I am sure that plays a part as well.  Have you had your thyroid checked?

I had alot of pain in my left ear and down my throat. I do believe it was GERD to a degree, but it went away after I found out I needed more thyroid meds to balance my system out.

The only ear type issue I have seen here is a few people feeling their heart beat in their ear in time with their pulse. I think this has to do with heart palps also, which some people have, and that might be what they hear or feel.

Actually GERD does cause that to some degree.

It also can give the tightness in your throat.

If you concerned about thyroid issues. Only way to tell for sure, is to have testing.
