I also have GERD, but have not had any problems. I get a biopsy done every year for that and actually had good news from my last scope. So I really don;t think it has to do with my GERD.
If it is my thyroid, what are some of the side effects of having it removed or medication that is given for this condition.
Is it normal to have ear discomfort (pressure left side) and difficulty swallowing? I am also starting to feel like I am strianing to get air past the spot I feel in my throat.
HI, we are volunteers on the site and not sure when you posted your original ? but we're glad to help .. it is slow on the weekends and sometimes inbetween but WELCOME to our Community.
Stella gave you great info ...your ENT may want to do a scope in his office ??
i go to the doc tomorrow, but what has concerned me if the pressure I am feeling in my left ear all the way to my throat an dneck on the left side. has anyone ever heard of a connection between your ear and thyroid?
The only ear type issue I have seen here is a few people feeling their heart beat in their ear in time with their pulse. I think this has to do with heart palps also, which some people have, and that might be what they hear or feel.
I had alot of pain in my left ear and down my throat. I do believe it was GERD to a degree, but it went away after I found out I needed more thyroid meds to balance my system out.
I too have the pressure in both ears. I notice it is more severe when my thyroid is inflammed due to my Hashimotos. I also have GERD and allergies so I am sure that plays a part as well. Have you had your thyroid checked?
It also can give the tightness in your throat.
If you concerned about thyroid issues. Only way to tell for sure, is to have testing.
