You are correct that with Hashi's, antibodies gradually destroy the thyroid.  How long it takes, depends on the individual, and at what point in the disease you are dx'd.

I'm not sure about the parathesia -- I had the pins and needles/numbness sensation before being dx'd with pernicious anemia (vitamin b12 deficiency).  I'm sure someone else can answer that question better than I.

I will say that Hashi's affects us all differently, so there's no telling.

Since being diagnosed with Hashi's recently, I have questions that my doctor hasn't explained to me.
*As I understand, Hashi's inflammation destroys the cells of the thyroid. How long does it take before the entire thyroid is destroyed?
*I came down with whole body parathesia (pins and needles) and other types of neuropathy which I was tested for and I have a hard time sweating which my test came out abnormal for that. Can this be caused by Hashi's or might it be something else?

Thanks!

also Hashimoto is huge in inflammation and the lymph nodes swelling could be casuing the discomfort.

Yes. Please keep a journal of what you eat, and when your jaw hurts. Something you are eating could be causing a flare up of the antibodies and swelling. Pay special attention to gluten, dairy, corn, yeast, soy, sugar.
