large nodule on neck

Hi, my bloodwork just came back 'normal' but I have a large (visible) nodule on neck, severe sweating, 40 lb weight loss in 8 months, and no period for 8 months. I'm 38. My doc wants me to see endocrinologist asap, but can't get in for a month! Having difficulty swallowing, feels like food is getting stuck in throat...help! I'm nervous it could be thyroid cancer and want to get it biopsied soon, any suggestions?

I'm so sorry that you're feeling bad!  Redhed is right.  Would it be possible for your primary care doc to send you for an ultrasound and possible biopsy while you're waiting for your endo appointment?  I too, had normal levels as far as bloodwork, but had the thryoid antibodies present.   I gained around 25 pounds in 7 months and hadn't changed a thing in my diet.  It's frustrating, I know!!  Plus, I know I've complained about this before, but the endo didn't think my weight gain had anything to do with my thyroid, because my TSH was within "normal" range.  I still have a hard time believing that one!  Please let us know how everything turns out for you.

Wow!  Do you have a copy of your labs? I don't know anything about your other symptoms because I had thyroid cancer but had no symptoms except a lump in my neck and normal bloodwork. Have you had an ultrasound or anything?  That can show the doctor if it is a cyst or solid nodule or complex.  That was my first step even before going to an endo.   Maybe you could get in with another endocrinologist or call them and tell them to put you on a cancellation list.  I did that and said I would come any time- not around my work schedule- I made it a point to put myself first even if it meant taking a day off.  Keep us posted.  Kim
