levothyroxine

i am very drug sensitive, i was put on levothyroxine for a low-normal thyroid. i was taking 25mcg for 2 days and thought i would jump out of my skin, couldnt sleep,headach,dizziness....the doctor said this was not normal and reffered me to an endocronoligest (sorry cant spell it) i only spoke to his nurse but she told me that lo normal is still normal so maybe the dose was to much so try 1/2 pill every other day. i did this for about 3 or 4 doses and the pounding in my chest stopped as did the feeling of jumping out of my skin and sleep problems. i was still however suffering from headachs and dizziness. so after taking this drug for only a week i stopped taking it. i have been dizzy for 6 days now even though i havent taken the drug. will it ever stop? i can hardly function. i had one er doctor tell me it was due to the meds and dont take anymore and i had another doctor tell me i am dizzy because i stopped the drug, i started getting dizzy before i stopped taking it so that makes no sense.i have allergy's to a long list of med's and can barely tolerate 1 advil. does anyone know how long this dizziness will last????

You could be intolerant of the thyroid meds you are on and might ask about changing.  I have  heard that the generics might not always have the same fillers in them so sticking with the well known brands is the best thing to do.  I am very drug sensitive, too and when on went on the non generic Synthroid, I was better, plus I also have adrenal fatigue which can cause low thyroid and has basically the same symptoms.   I started taking DHEA 5mgs a day at night before bed and I have been feeling a lot better.  I didn't know anything about the adrenals until I went to a naturopath where I was given a saliva test.  Kind of costly, but I did find out  about my adrenals being fatigued.  He is the one that put me on DHEA.  My family dr put me on 50mcgs of non generic synthroid and in two weeks, I am now finally feeling better.  I did have some dizziness when I was at 50TSH, but is now gone.  I get my next blood test the day after Xmas which will only be three weeks from last one, but being as I am so sensitive to the meds, my dr. is trying to keep ahead of any kind of over medication.  If things look better, he will either keep me on this dosage or adjust it.  You should probably go back and get another blood test to make sure where you stand and get them more frequently than the average person if you can't shake the symptoms.  I am not out of the woods, yet, but I am getting there.  Don't give up.  Just stay on top of it and be informed when you talk to your dr. and insist on more frequent blood tests.  Anyway, this is my suggestion and I hope it helps.  Merry Xmas
