I believe this is just a beta blocker and wouldnt do anything for the thyroid...did you have any bloodwork taken??  Are you waiting for the results??    Beta blocker is good..so your heart doesnt stress.   It wont take care of other symptoms from thyroid

Can I ask why you are on the Beta Blocker? Do you have thyroid issues? I have had my thyroid removed and I get heart palps every now and then. Just  curious as to why you are on the blocker..

I am on the beta blocker because i have a hyper thyroid. My tsh is 0.01 and i dont go to see the endo doc til december. So thats what my primary put me on.My heart races and feels like im having panic attacks so maybe thats why he put me on it...

That's why he put you on it.

As long as you are not having tachacrdia (racing heart), the medicine is doing it's job.

That doesn't mean your heart is going to feel great. It just means you won't turn into a run-away train and have cardiac failure.

You need to call that Endo's office and ask to be put on the cancellation list. That way, if an opening comes available you will get in sooner. You do not want to sit around for two months without further treatment waiting for an appointment.

I meant to say "tachacardia", but I forgot a letter.

If your heart feels like it starts revving up and then settles down again quickly, the medicine is doing it's job. It will not stop skipped beats or other "uh-oh" feelings, just prolonged, extremely rapid heart rate that would likely not stop on it's own.

Thanks for the advice. I actually don't have health insurance until december 1st, which is why my appt is so far away. I have been paying out of pocket to see my primary these past few times. It is way cheaper to see the primary doc rather than a specialist.  So I guess I have to deal with until then?

I guess so.

Try to go on an iodine free diet.
It's almost impossible to eat iodide-free, but if you can cut as much iodine out of your diet as is practical, it will help.

Right now, the more iodine you ingest, the more iodine your body has to help you remain hyper.

Rest as much as you can. Try to avoid emotional turmoil. Drink lots of water. If you are losing weight, stay away from Ensure. Too much iodine in it.
