Hi, it has just been confirmed that my 8 1/2 week pregnancy will be a miscarriage because of an abnormal ultrasound. All my other blood work is perfectPerfect choice, including progesterone and hcg levels. i've had 2 healthly children and just had an early miscarriage this past december. the only abnormal finding in my blood work is the antithyroid antibodies at level 46. my tshPituitary and tsh Tsh level is normalNormal saline flush at 1.070. i have seen so much online that linkes these antibodies with early multiple miscarriages. The link seems to be that the antibodies attack the fetal cells? is that correct ? if yes, what role can levothyroxine play and how can it help if my tsh levels are already between 1-2; the ideal range? what is the mechanism of action by which selenium 200mcg per day can work to be effective? does it bind with the antibodies to decrease their concentration in the blood? is selenium any risk to a healthy fetus at this high dose? what are the chances of another miscarriage if i do nothing? i am a pharmacist and am trying to figure out appropriate treatment, i would appreciate any help, thank you so much.
Hi, I'm very sorry to hear what has happened to you, the same happened to me some time ago now, and I was absolutely devasted to put it mildly, but I was lucky enough to eventually get my little girl. As for your antibodies, I get very confused about mine, even though I'm a Nurse, and I always ask AR whose is fab with them. I'm answering your post now, and it will bring it up high in the list again and hopefully he will see it and give you some great answers, he usually does.
Your carrying the antibodies within your system that destroy cells. Until this destruction is over - even if Levo was administered - there is no real answer if another pregnancy will be miscarried.
I struggled with undetected thyroid disease for many years. and ironically I have had 3 pregnancies that were miscarried. Two very early (6-8 wks) One almost 15 weeks
I don't think it is good to plan on another pregnancy until your levels become stable with or without meds for one year.
The body has to heal after the antibodies stop attacking if they ever do. and when you eventually need thyroid medication - again you need to give your body time to adjust.
I don't have an answer for you, just wanted to send my regards.
