Thanks for the info, by the way what type of side effects did you have with the cytomel?
thanks,
Carla
Hey Carla...I only took Cytomel for a short time; I couldn't tolerate it at all. My doctor had me take it at the same time as I took the Levothyroxine. I'd always wait at least an hour before eating. However, I have heard that some take the Cytomel with meals to slow down it's absortion and some also break the dose in half and take it twice a day.
As far as accupuncture....I've only had it one time for headaches. Not that I'm not a believer...I've just never found anyone reputable in my area. I'd say give it a try. Now what I have tried that workerd for me is a chiropractor or massage therapist that specializes in trigger point realease. I've also had some luck with trigger point injections...they seem to offer almost immediate relief. Just some thoughts...good luck
Also...if you imbibe, you might want to cut back or cut out caffiene!

When I start to take the cytomel how much time do you separate between breakfast,
all the vitamins and my HRT pills? In other words do you take cytomel first on an
empty stomach and wait several hours before the other stuff? Also need your input
on acupuncture. Have scheduled a session next Tues. just to see what she can do,
she is supposed to be excellent. Got a lot of soreness under the armpit and trap
where the muscles went into spasm the whole right side is stiff even under the ribs.
I read in her materials that they work with fibro and trigger points and eastern
Chinese medicines, I mean accredited and trained. appreciate your input,
thanks,
Carla
Oop....too many zero's for the D...try 80
Good start Carla... I was low in both. The optimum for D , which is now considered a homrone by some, is around 800 and B12 in the same range I believe. They both should come up a little higher though.
I take 6000 units of D every day and around 3000 of sub b-12.
Initially my D was around 29 and the doc had me taking 50,000 once a week. It's now up to 49...takes a long time. Hope this helps...get on the web and search out "optimum". levels for yourself.
again...good luck!
Hi thanks for answering. Vitamin D is coming up in the forties and I take 3400 IU's
a day. Vit B12 was 517 right in the middle of values, no iron or anemia problems.
Finally got to endo and he is going to give me 5 mcg cytomel after he clears up
adrenal testing. I also take sublingual B-12 every day and extra time release B complex
with 500 C. I am hopeful for some help .....................will ask for Vit D testing next
visit and hope it has come up some more would like to get into the 50's at least.
Carla...I've had the same with my hypo. However, you should get your Vitamin D and B12 levels checked and look into optimum, not normal, levels for both.
good luck
Yes. Spine and neck problems can be the result of low thyroid and can effect the limbs as well. Extra top ribs are not that uncommon and can squeeze the nerves that go to your hands in the thoradic outlet - (neck , shoulder junction.
Physical therapy, trigger point release and T3 helped me. Its a slow road!
