sorry didnt answer no no meds .she said I dont have it ,only higher than normal blood sugar but not diabetic yet .
I thought I had nearly all the symptoms and in the last bloodwork they said I do not have low thyroid and those were the results.I was surprised ,Unfortunately having moved house this last year, I have a new Doctor ,,she is short shrift and its hard to question her , and trust me I am a questioner LOl The ranges are as follows, T3 Total 84.4 normal range being 40.0-180.0 TSH 3rd Generation 1.313 normal range 0.350-5.500 Free T4 1.32 normal range 0.80-1.80 Is any of that any use ..
Hi margy -- I agree with gimel; it would be better if they'd tested for free T3, because that would show what's actually circulating in your blood and available for use; however, your total T3 (depending on the specific reference range, of course) does seem quite low (based on ranges we sometimes see) in relation to your free T4, which indicates that you might have an issue converting Free T4 to T3.
I'd also have to wonder if you've had an Reverse T3 test done. T4 can also be converted to RT3, which can block free T3 from entering the cells. This can cause the same symptoms as being hypothyroid, but leaving TSH and Free T4 levels in the so-called "normal" ranges..
Have you had thyroid antibody tests done to confirm/rule out an autoimmune thyroid disease? With an autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis), symptoms of hypothyroidism can surface long before labs verify it.
Are you currently taking thyroid meds? If so, what is the brand and dosage? Do you have symptoms that relate to being hypo?
It would be helpful if you would post the reference ranges shown on the lab report since results and ranges vary from lab to lab. Of course it would be better if you had Free T3 instead of total T3, but If I evaluated your results against the ranges I see quite frequently, it appears that your T3 is too low, but your FT4 is over the midpoint, indicating a lack of T4 to T3 conversion. This often happens when taking T4 meds, thus my first question above.
