Had a partial thyroidectomy done six weeks, I often feel sick after a meal and feel full up very quickly. Also can feel a bit dizzy for example walking round a busy supermarket.  The swelling is not completely down yet.  Is all this normal
and will it pass in time?

Thanks again for your comments, given me something to consider. Will be going back to work tomorrow, hope I feel ok. Blood test will be done in six weeks time, apparantly that seems to be the norm after my type of op. who knows?

Just a thought... My endocrinologist would rather I take Levoxyl instead of Levothyroxin but EVERYTIME he switches me I become sick with stomach problems sickness, bloating, gas and pain by the end of the first week. He tells me along with the pharmacist that the drugs are identical but my stomach begs to differ. Have you switched to a different drug lately or something new?

Didn't notice feeling sick after meal, juliva is right, my friend usualy had something to eat in her pocket when she felt sick. High calcium can give nauseas, so other electrolytes ( ex. low sodium), peptic ulcer (after meal). etc I would check all these. Check your thyroid hormones to see if you need adjustment of your medication.

I just had a right side thyroidectomy done 5 days ago and I'm having to watch my glucose levels closely. I'm not a diabetic but seems like when ever I've had a shock to my body such as surgery or illness my sugar levels will drop fast but I've learned to eat smaller more frequent meals to stay level. I do feel sick/weak/shaky/dizzy when my sugar levels go low but if you are feeling that way after you eat I'd say it's not your glucose levels because you should feel better soon after eating not worse. I do know a bit about glucose levels because I've treated many in the field :+)) EMT-Specialist, Juli

I have a friend that was like that and her problem was low glucose, when you feel like that try to go to the pharmacy and test you're glucose. I think 3 months is to much to test for you thyroid hormones, after changing you're medication you should retest them in 4-6 weeks. May be you need to adjust you're medication.

Thanks for your interest, but have not been tested for glucose or calcium levels, will get tested for thyroid hormones 3 months after operation. Could low levels of glucose or calcium be making feel sick and tire out easily? Thanks again estrelinha.
