not sure if I should start synthroid again!!

Hi There just wondering what everyone think's about this little senerio.  I was on trial of synthroid for 3 months ,did not really seem to help me with my symptooms,  It did bring my tsh down  to .1,but I did not stay at that level very long before I decided to go off drugs.  I was starting to get heart palp's.  My question is my tsh now is 3.73  just got results today, and wondering if it will  go  down on it's own or should I start the drugs again and stay on them for at least 6 months.  My endo does not think I need drugs she said I am in normal range and is finished treating me.It was my GP woh started me on them.  I have read that high end of norm can give you all kinds of symptoms.  I was hyper and treated with RAI and now I think I am Hypo.  Just do not know what to do.  I was told with a toxic nodule that risk of developing hypo is low after RAI but I still have many symptoms.  Tired and weak muscles and neuropothies.  What do you think??

I am so confused and tired of being sick

Maybe you should try the med every other day, that is what i am starting to do to see if some of my pains go away, i read on another forum someone stopped there meds and pains started to go away, i dont know if it would help but I had them heart palps awhile back when the uped my dose to 75 so i went back down to 50 for awhile and now back up to 75 with no heart palps. Also I have seen where people are taking a dif. dose everyday also like 25 one day then half that the next (In your case). I have been massaging my legs and feet and it is helping a lil with them neuropathys but my right leg and ankle still keeps hurting so baddddddddd, i think it is my meds and possible the steroids which i am starting to wean down on some, but everytime i try to wean down on those my hands start feeling numb. Its just a battle to we get right I guess, my surgery for the left lobe is the 24th and i am so not excited, i called the doc today to see if they would put me on armour so i could see if it would work and she wont yet till i been on the 75 synthroid for 6-8 weeks well after talking to her i just decided i wouldnt take it everyday to see what happens. :(

I was on 50 mcg of armour and that brought me down to .81 but my t3 was really high I think about 6 I started to get funny things going on with my heart so I went off armour and went on synthroid and I was on 25 mcg of that and that brought me up to 1.33 'energy was great ,but still had neuropathy but was only at that level for about 2 months and then went off it because I was not feeling better with neuropathies. I would like to know why my heart seems so sensitive to thyroid med's.  Heart palp's were my primary symptom before I was treated with Rai and they were really bad pvc's continually.  What about taking half of 25mcg to start and then slowly increasing ? can you do that with synthroid or is 25 the lowest dose? I thought it was.I also have mitral valve leak which I think may be related to untreated hyperthyroidism for many many years, but who knows... I may have had it from birth.  I guess that could be causing some of the palp's too!! what a mess I am  only 39 and I feel like I am falling apart.  Just curious do you guy's ever get cystitis of the bladder?? wondering if has anything to do with thyroid or maybe my anxiety med' side effect. Read that it could be.

Thanks for all the great advice as usual.

Sounds like to me you are feeling all the symptoms of being hypo and would benefit from some hormone supplement.  Your dr would need to start you out on a very small dose and recheck in 6 weeks.  Then if it is still not enough increase in small increments and recheck every 6 weeks until it is in a better range.  Once you get them where you and your dr think they should be, usually around 1, you should give it a few months to see how you feel.  After my level got down to .93 it took me a few months to be free of all symptoms.

Hang tough.  There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel.  And it's not a train!

Was that the lowest does you were on when at .1?

If not, If it were me, I'd start at the lowest dose, test 6 weeks after to get a base reading, then retest  in another 6 weeks.  If TSH is still too high then up meds to the next dose.  Repeat all the above until you reach a TSH level that is best for you.

Go low and slow!
