not sure what is going on

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about 2 years ago.  I am 46 and female.  I see an endocrinologist.  My Synthroid dosage is .15mg once and day and on Sunday's I take a pill and a half.  In June, my TSH was 3.5, in Aug. it was 2.5 and thyroid peroxidase was 178.  I have for the past 2 months been feeling awful.  Horrid headaches, muscle aches and joint pain, unable to lose weight (although I am not overweight and I am very active), no initiative to do many things, dry eyes, and most noticeable as of lately, mixing up words in my speech patterns.  My most recent tests of this week show a TSH of 0.5.  I am waiting for my peroxidase results.  I really feel as if I have chronic fatigue, rheumatoid arthritis or whatever.  I do not have those diseases because I tested negative for all of them.  Any ideas?
Oh, I have an appt. with my endocrinologist on Thurs.

Thank you so much for responding back.  I went to the hospital today and picked up the results of my TPO.  It was 278.  So it has gone up since Aug.  When I was first diagnosed with Hashimoto's my level was 898!  Tomorrow is my appt.  I will let you know what I find out.
What is crazy about this is I felt awesome last spring and early summer.  So my TSH was about 3.5 and my TPO about 178 then.  I seem to feel the best when they are in that range.  We will see what the dr. says.  She is an amazing dr. so I have no worries about that.

Hi Mary,

I have Hashi's too. I've had all of the same symptoms with the exceptions of the headaches and have tested negative for CFS, RA as well. The sx persist even when my TSH is in the mid to low 1's but seemed slightly better when my TSH was running in the 0.5 range. Last antibodies were >1000 on one and >180 on the other.

I don't really have any suggestions to alleviate your symptoms, but just wanted to offer you the reassurance that you're not crazy --- others have the same issues :)

Afterthought: regarding the dry eyes thing-- my opthalmologist recommending taking a fish oil or cod oil capsule every day. It promotes the lipid portion of the tears and has seemed to help with the dry eyes a bit. It's also a great source of omega fatty acids--good for the heart, etc. He also recommended Systane drops which are over the counter and can be used several times per day.

Good luck at the endo on Thursday. Keep us posted.
